Space Oxygen Project

Our media agency has just obtained the Co2 neutral certification via the experts from Co2 Logic. The process started in September 2021, by measuring our impact in terms of CO2 emissions, aiming at finding routes to reduce our carbon footprint. A climate issue to start with, that will soon be followed by other projects, all aiming at sustainability. This whole project has been initiated by the new generation within the agency, with the full support of the management.

Space has activated a task force – Space Oxygen - In order to be responsive to global issues related to climate change and the impact that our activities have in this context. This task force has been working since September 2021 to understand and measure the carbon impact of our activities in order to measure and monitor our emissions, offset them and set up an optimization plan over several years.

Co2 Logic has been supporting us in the different steps of this process and providing us with the necessary tools, making it possible for Space to be rewarded by the Co2 neutral label. Jonathan Jacoby (Digital Transformation Director, Space): "We felt it was necessary to get an official certification. We see many companies claiming to be carbon free, but often without any recognition from a formal source. We want to do the right thing, not green bashing,"

In concrete terms, formalized by Co2 Logic, the agency should reduce its CO2 emissions by 70% by 2023 versus 2019. This mission is obviously not only to the benefit of Space. We also want to be an example on the market to federate around an issue where we all have a role to play. And we are just in the starting blocks says Jonathan: "Many of our clients and partners are also engaged for our planet and it is our ambition in the coming months and years to work hand in hand with them to go even further by setting up innovative actions related to our business”.

Carpooling is a good illustration, as soft mobility is also identified as an important issue in the communication business given the many face-to-face meetings which we expect to be many again when the covid situation is better under control. The use of solar panels and changes in lighting are also on our to do list. François Chaudoir, our CEO, fully supports our program: "I am happy with the dynamics proposed by our young colleagues and support their efforts. Especially as these ideas have taken the form of a broad and long-term program. These are not one-off actions to promote the agency, but a necessary and serious contribution for a more balanced world in terms of the environment and people.” "It is often said that we are in a 'people business', so let’s take good care of people," concludes Bernard Cools (Chief Intelligence Officer, Space).
